Applications are opening now. The Ontario application opens this month and UBC's opens in early October, and almost every family treats January 15 as the date to work back from. The problem is that several of the decisions worth the most money are made before that. Rotman Commerce asks applicants to apply by November 7 for early consideration and to have documents in by December 1. UBC's December 1 date is the deadline to have applied if your child is to be considered for the Presidential Scholars Awards, the UBC Centennial Scholars Entrance Awards or the Beyond Tomorrow Scholars Award, and UBC begins releasing decisions from November. The University of Calgary's Prestige Awards close December 1 and the University of Alberta's entrance awards close January 10. We will map all of it out, month by month, alongside the supplementary pieces that need real drafting time, the UBC Personal Profile, the Waterloo Admission Information Form, the Queen's supplementary application, the Ivey AEO application and the Rotman and Engineering supplements at U of T. We will explain how the earliest offers are built on the marks that exist at the time, which in the fall means Grade 11 finals and first-term Grade 12, and what that means for course load decisions being made right now. We will close with what Grade 11 families should be doing this year so next fall is a lighter one.
