One strategy to save time when applying to universities

Time is the most valuable resource busy students have. Here's how you can make the most of it. (No, it's not a calendar app.)

Here’s why time is the most important part of getting into a top university program in Canada:

First let’s talk about grade 12.

This is the most important year for your grades because this is what most universities look at. If your grades drop in grade 12, this will impact your chances of getting into the school of your dreams the most.

So why does time matter?

Because time is the reason that most students’ grades drop in grade 12.

Have you ever had a health concern where you scour the internet for what it might be? You spend hours searching and searching. But that doesn’t count the hours spent WORRYING about what it might be. When you get to your doctor, because they have extensive training, in a matter of minutes they diagnose you. Now your mind is at ease because you can focus on the treatment.

That’s how education consultants help busy students.

Picture this: It’s grade 12. You are taking the most challenging course of your life, doing all of your extracurricular activities, sports, music, art, and on top of that, don’t forget your grade 12 celebrations. Now you throw in deadlines for early admissions, scholarships, and admissions that come at you…must faster than you expected. Whoosh! One just went by and you didn’t realize it. Panic starts to set in. Stress. “Am I doing the right thing?” gets asked at the dinner table.

How do you fix this?

If you’re in the middle of grade 12, you pause and zoom out for one second.

You get a view of all the upcoming deadlines. ALL of them. So that they don’t catch you by surprise anymore. And you have a plan for all of them.

Because no one writes a great application when they’re stressed, overwhelmed, or panicking at the last second.

Oh, and that’s not good for your grades either. (Remember, we still need those to be as high as possible right?)

Yikes.

Unfortunately this is where most students end up in grade 12.

But it doesn’t have to be this way.

If you’re in grade 12, take a moment to pause, zoom out, and plan for all the deadlines that are coming up. If you aren’t aware of all of them, this is where we can help. And we can give you an idea of how much time you need to budget to prepare for each one. By creating this plan, you can strategically ignore some deadlines and prioritize others. We’ll tell you how and why.

If you’re younger than grade 12, this is the perfect opportunity to make grade 12 more manageable. Instead of lumping all of the work at the end - you get to break it into bite-sized chunks earlier. You are way more efficient with your time when you’re not panicked. You get a sense of momentum and everything feels easier.
