Student Success Remote (Canada) Contract

Student Advisor - Med School Student (Contract)

Mentor future doctors along the pre-med pathway. Built to fit a med student's schedule.

About us

AdmissionPrep is a high-performance coaching company helping students take control of their post-secondary journey. You survived the MCAT, conquered the Casper, aced the MMIs, and secured your white coat. You know exactly what it takes to get into medical school in Canada, and how stressful that journey can be. We are looking for current medical students to act as the ultimate mentors, guiding ambitious high school students along the pre-med pathway and through the admissions process.

Compensation and flexibility

This is a fully remote, flexible role, designed specifically to fit around the demanding schedule of a medical student.

  • Effective hourly rate between $20 and $25 per hour, depending on experience. Performance-based bonuses are tied to student results.
  • Shifts are available from 2pm to 7pm PST on weekdays, and at least one weekend day. This allows you to work after your lectures, labs, or clinic blocks.
  • We expect a minimum one-year commitment to your students. In return, we are incredibly flexible with your schedule during exam blocks and rotations.
  • Must be a current student at an accredited Canadian medical school.

The role

You will serve as a strategist, mentor, and coach to high school students aiming for a medical career, working over Zoom or phone to:

  • Map the pre-med pathway: guide high schoolers on undergraduate program selection, course selection, and high-yield extracurricular strategies
  • Demystify med school admissions: break down the realities of GPA requirements, MCAT timelines, Casper preparation, and application components like the OMSAS ABS
  • Build the profile: help students identify gaps in their resumes (shadowing, research, volunteering) and build a competitive, well-rounded profile early
  • Foster resilience: help students build accountability, time management, and the mental stamina needed for the long haul

Behind the scenes, you will also

  • Use our internal tech platform and tools to track student milestones
  • Coordinate with our team to optimize resources for pre-med candidates
  • Stay up to date on changes to Canadian medical school prerequisites and admissions policies

We are looking for someone who

  • Is an active MD candidate: currently enrolled in a Canadian medical school with a successful personal track record in the admissions cycle
  • Is the mentor they wish they had: genuinely passionate about lifting up the next generation of future doctors
  • Is a clear communicator: can break down complex institutional requirements into manageable, actionable steps for teenagers and their parents
  • Thrives under structure: manages a heavy workload and shows up consistently for scheduled student sessions
  • Is an empathetic coach: balances high expectations with the empathy needed to manage student (and parent) anxiety
